Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is a American television reporter, commentator and anchor for NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language from the University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell began in the field of radio and television reporter in Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. In 1976, Mitchell became a reporter for WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). Then, she became a Washington general correspondent with NBC News two years later. 1980 began her coverage of the White House. 1988 became the main congressional reporter. She was appointed the chief White House correspondent by NBC News in the year 1992. Mitchell was a panelist for the TV show Meet the Press and also hosted the program. Mitchell was a panelist of the 1988 presidential debates that pitted George Bush against Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan who was former chairman at Federal Reserve Board. In 2005 Mitchell received the prestigious Goldsmith Career Award for Excellence in Journalism from the John F. Kennedy School of Government as well as in 2004 she was awarded the Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) honored Mitchell by awarding her the Leonard Zeidenberg Award in recognition of her contribution to the protection for First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell initially covered the White House for NBC News between 1981 and 1988 during the entirety of Ronald Reagan's terms as President. Her reporting included a number of crucial stories such as the Iran-contra scandal, the budget and tax reform, as well as the issue of arms control. She traveled widely with the president Reagan for summits with Mikhail Gorbachev.
